At Arkema, we make innovative materials for a more sustainable world.  For fighting corrosion, our solutions include Kynar® PVDF resins, Rilsan® Polyamide 11 and Kepstan® PEKK powder coatings. Kynar® PVDF has high-temperature and chemical resistance, low permeability, and high strength. Kynar Aquatec® PVDF waterborne resins enhance anti-corrosion coating performance by improving moisture and salt barrier properties, chemical resistance and UV resistance in extreme climates. Bio-based Rilsan® PA11 powder coatings have great corrosion protection, impact and abrasion resistance, flexibility, and food & water approvals. Kepstan® PEKK offers ultra-high performance for the most demanding applications. King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, https://hpp.arkema.com

"Ultra -Durable Anti-Corrosion System for Steel Infrastructure in Extreme Environments"

Climate change and extreme environmental forces, in the presence of salt and pollution, can accelerate corrosion of critical steel structures such as bridges, electrical utilities and telecommunications, increasing the likelihood of catastrophic failure. Conventional anti-corrosion coating systems are vulnerable to degradation under these same extreme environmental conditions and require costly maintenance programs, and multiple time-consuming re-coats. It is well known that architectural topcoats formulated with aqueous polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) acrylic dispersions provide decades of exceptional weathering performance, even in extreme coastal environments. Moreover, these topcoats have been shown to perform extremely well in cyclic corrosion testing (ISO 20340:2023) as primer/midcoat/topcoat 3-coat coating systems freshly applied over metal substrates. To simulate the corrosion protection provided by weathered coating systems, a study was conducted in which coated steel panels were first exposed to accelerated UV per SSPC Paint 47 (published in 2020), and then subjected to cyclic corrosion testing (ISO 20340:2023). Results for PVDF acrylic dispersion-based topcoats and traditional polyurethane topcoats will be presented

"Nonmetallic Material Selection for the Oil and Gas Industry"

This presentation will cover the different applications within the oil and gas industry, both offshore and onshore, where nonmetallic materials can outcompete and replace metallic systems. Although metallic systems are essential to fuel production, nonmetallic replacements can extend lifespan and provide more lightweight solutions. This presentation will detail the benefits of nonmetallics over metals for this industry and highlight important factors to consider when choosing a nonmetallic material for an application..
